Our first "vacation"

On the weekend we took a mini-vacation to Winnipeg. We hadn't been to the city since just before Liam was born! We went shopping for Liam, visited my Grandma (Liam's great-grandma), swam in the hotel pool, went to the zoo, and ate out. It was wonderful! We were a little worried about how Liam would react to all the travelling and the strange environment, but he was great! He slept most of the way there and back, and he slept fantastically at the hotel in his pack and play. Now that we know that he won't be a problem we are going to start travelling more often!

Here is Liam giving hugs to his great-Grandma. When Grandma saw the picture she just cringed and said she looked like a wild witch woman! LOL!

This is Liam and me posing in front of the statue of "Winnie the bear" at the Winnipeg zoo. (Forgive Derek for cutting off the top of the statue!)

Six months!

Liam turned six months old yesterday. Where has the time gone???

Liam is doing really well. He rolls all over the place and is working on sitting up by himself. His favourite things are his jumperoo, watching the kitties, going for walks and seeing Daddy at work. He's also becoming a real little chatterbox - I think he finds a new "word" everyday - and he flirts with all the ladies! He eats a variety of fruits and veggies and he's starting to taste some of Mommy and Daddy's food (he wants to taste it ALL - you should see him stare when we are eating!) . Last but not least, he's starting to take an interest in everyday objects, like the phone. If you go anywhere near him with the phone he goes crazy trying to get it. It's the same thing with the remote - that's why we found him his own!

First Trip to the Lake

On Saturday we took Liam on his first visit to Riding Mountain National Park. Our friends Todd and Twylla had a cabin rented there, so we went up for the day to do some window shopping, walking, and swimming. It was the hottest day of the year so far - 47 C with the humidex! Needless to say, we were very glad to get into the pool at the cabin! It was Liam's first swim in a big pool and he loved it! It took him a few minutes to get used to the water, but then he was splashing and kicking like crazy. Then, we borrowed Hayden's pool ring and Liam just slouched back and relaxed - it was so cute! After our swim we had some BBQ and then went for a walk for some ice cream. We also went down to the beach to cruise the boardwalk and go down the pier. By the end of all this, we had one tired little boy so we packed him into the van and headed for home. He was tuckered right out - he slept the whole night through and didn't wake up until 7:00!

Mr. Smiley

Cousins

On Sunday we celebrated Liam's Great-Grandpa K's birthday. Almost all of the immediate family was there and Liam got to play with his cousin Max, who is just three months older than he is.

Then, on Wednesday Liam met his cousin Elizabeth for the first time. Elizabeth is even closer to Liam's age - she was born just 12 days earlier! Elizabeth was super-excited to meet him, and Liam did quite well considering it was past his bedtime.

Liam's still got two little cousins left to meet - Noah (who is just one day older than Liam!) and Presley (three months younger). It's so nice that they are all so close in age - as Liam gets older he will always have someone to play with at family get-togethers!

Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'

Now that Liam has learned to roll both ways, he is all over the place. If I turn my head for a second, I never know where he'll end up!

Me want cookies!!!

Liam had his first cookie on Wednesday! He really liked chewing on it - he got screaming mad when I finally took it away from him!

Lee-Bee goes to the fair!

Since there is rarely anything more exciting than watching paint dry here, we just HAD to go the ag fair. We took Liam to see the animals, walked around the midway, and, of course, Mommy and Daddy had a treat of carnival food. Then, in the evening we went to see the Canada Day fireworks. We weren't going to go, but when Liam woke up a few minutes before they were going to start we just piled into the van. The show was pretty good for a small town. Liam definately noticed the display, but he didn't really care much. I think he was just confused - why were we out in the van at bedtime?

Taking a break...

Who knew jumping was such hard work?

Ooooh, toes are nummy!

First Swim!

It was a very nice day today so we decided to fill up Liam's pool. We got the pool ready with nice warm water and got our little man all dressed in his swim trunks. We were so excited - Liam, not so much...

5 Months Old!!

Liam turned 5 months old yesterday. Where is the time going??? It seems like just a few days ago that I was posting about him turning 4 months!

Liam is doing really well. He has learned how to roll over both ways (just started front to back yesterday) and is practising sitting. He is getting cereal and 1/3 to 1/2 of a jar of fruits or veggies twice a day. He eats sweet potatoes, carrots, squash, peaches, applesauce and fresh bananas. Sleeping is great- he goes down at about 7:00 - 7:30pm and gets up for the day around 8:00 - 8:30am. (He does still wake up twice during the night). Playing with his toys on the floor and jumping in his jumperoo are his favourite activities, and you should see him go NUTS when his Daddy comes home every day! He's a wonderful, happy little boy!

Practising sitting...

We've been practising sitting and Liam does fairly well. He can balance with his hands in front and sit for about a minute!

Toes are so much fun!!

It was much easier to change Liam's diaper before he found his toes...

Happy Father's Day!!

Liam made his Daddy a cute keepsake shirt for his first Father's Day. (Okay, I helped a bit...)

You're kidding me, right Mom??

Hey, we've got to keep his little head from rolling around somehow!

A Major Discovery

This week Liam discovered his toes. All thoughts of practising rolling have been put aside so that a full effort can be made in toe exploration. It's very cute, but it does make bedtime somewhat difficult - it's hard to sleep when there are fabulous playthings at the end of your legs!

Just a quick note...

I have enabled "Anonymous Posting" so that anyone can leave a comment on the blog. I didn't realise it wasn't on until several people told me they were unable to leave comments - for this I apologise. If you are reading, I'd love to hear from you! All I ask is that you put your name at the end of the post so I know you've been by!

Roll over! Roll over!

Liam rolled over all by himself for the first time this afternoon! He rolled from back to front - he got his arm pinned underneath him but he was all the way over! Of course, this is the one time I didn't take a picture (Derek was using the camera for a video) but I'll take one and post it soon. Now we have to work on going from front to back!

Just doing some baby laundry...

Photo Studio

Yesterday I decided to play "Photo Studio" with Liam. I draped a sheet and tried to take some cool pictures. Needless to say - it didn't really work out.

First, he wouldn't stop trying to eat the sheet...

Then, we had some issues with drool...

Finally, Liam decided he didn't want to play "Photo Studio" any more...

All that said, we did get a few not too bad pictures out of it...

Check out the chubby boy!

Monkey Boy!

I think our little boy is officially becoming a monkey!

Baby Bums and Itty Bitty Feet

I just love babies in nothing but a diaper!

Feeding Time at the Zoo

This little boy loves his food, but man what a mess! He can't eat without getting his fingers in there too - then he rubs it all over his face. I even find carrots up his nose!

Wake Up Call

Liam has learned a new trick for sleeptime. Just in case we don't hear his cry, Liam also thumps his feet against the mattress just to make sure we know he is awake.

Attack of the Toys!

Liam loves to play with toys now. He'll pick them up if they are lying beside him or placed on his chest and they go straight into his mouth! I have to laugh though because he hasn't figured out yet that he can also grab things off his face. He'll put something in his mouth, let it go, and then make a fuss because it is sitting on his face and he can't get it off!

4 Month Appointment

Yesterday Liam had his 4 month appointment. He now weighs - drumroll, please - 18 lbs 4 oz! I actually have to say I was a little disappointed. After months of gaining 2-3 pounds he only gained a bit over 1 pound this time. (He was 17 lbs 5 oz at 3 months but was wearing jeans and a heavy jacket - this time he just had shorts and a t-shirt) The doctor says he looks to be a very happy and healthy baby!

Here's Liam hanging out in his Pack n' Play this afternoon:
