The Secret to Naptime Success
After much difficulty in getting Liam to take naps in his crib, I believe we have stumbled upon the solution: a lovey. Not only does clutching it keep him from grabbing and pulling his pacifier out, but he seems to love having it touch his face. Since we started giving the lovey to him it has not taken more than 5 minutes for him to fall asleep. Now all we need to do is buy at least a dozen more so that we have enough to last until he's eighteen.

Out Like a Light
On Saturday we took a trip to visit Grandma and Grandpa J. Liam loved visiting with his grandparents - not so much sleeping in a strange place. Between 11 am and 7 pm the little man only slept a grand total of an hour. I had great intentions of taking pictures, but that gets forgotten rather quickly when you have a howling baby on your hands. We left to go home and it was barely 3 blocks before Liam was sound asleep. Here's what we found after the two hour drive home:

Buddies!
Yesterday we spent some time with our friends Todd and Twylla and their son Hayden (9 mos). We hope that Liam and Hayden will be great buddies as they get older. Hayden may be bigger now, but Liam is catching up quickly! Hayden's mom, Twylla, was telling him that if he ever wanted to beat Liam up he'd better do it now!

*I should clarify that I am the one holding Hayden, and my friend Twylla is holding Liam. Thanks to those who thought otherwise!*

Liam Longstockings
Daddy, why do you insist on doing this to me? And Mommy, why do you take pictures of it?
Two Month Update
I can't believe Liam is two months old already! Wow!
We went to the clinic on Wednesday, March 30 for his two month check-up. The doctor says he is in perfect health! Our little man weighed in at 15lbs 7oz, and is 24 inches long (I don't think they measured him correctly when he was born - we always got 22 inches). He was a champ with his needles - he was sleeping by the time we got back to the van!
Liam is a very happy baby and will easily spend half an hour playing with his "kicker" or looking at his mobile in his crib. He is starting to get into a routine with his feeding and naps and he has slept through the night 3 times (although not in a row). He always has smiles and coos for Mommy, Daddy, or anyone else who may be around. Way to go Liam!

No More Film!!
After discussing it for many months, we finally decided to buy a digital camera. The deciding factor? How much film we have been going through with pictures of Liam! If we had bought the camera before he was born it would have paid for itself already - that's how many pictures I have been taking. At least now I can preview the pictures and just print up the ones I like instead of hoping for one or two good ones out of a roll of film. Of course now that I have a digital camera it will be much easier for me to post pictures - prepare to be bombarded!

So Happy!
Now that we are more or less settled in at home, I'll have to make more of an effort to keep this blog updated!
Well it has been six weeks since our little man has come into our lives and I couldn't be happier! More rested, yes; out of my pj's by noon, yes; but happier - not possible!
Liam is a good baby. He only fusses if he needs something (or if he is pooping). He is a big boy and growing more everyday - 2 weeks ago he was already 13lbs! To top things off, Over the past few days he has learned how to smile - that alone has made any trouble or inconvenience that we have experienced worth it.
Here's Liam at 5 weeks:

He's here!
Liam Robert arrived on January 24 at 12:56pm via c-section. He weighed 9 lbs 13 oz and was 23 inches long. Liam is doing great, although I have been having continued problems with my blood pressure and have been in and out of the hospital. I am home now on meds and hopefully we can all get settled in as a new family. I'll try to post more details soon!
